Located on the east side of Oahu, Hawaii Kai is one of Honolulu’s younger neighborhoods. Although the area is mostly residential, many people on holiday will also find this largely upscale community a great place to vacation in as well. Whether you are looking to stay long-term and build a home in Hawaii or simply enjoy a relaxing Hawaiian vacation; you should definitely consider Hawaii Kai.

Known to locals originally as Kuapa Pond, it was in the mid-70s when Hawaii Kai experienced real estate growth, though not by much because the area was considered a bit inaccessible from the city of Honolulu and also too swampy. For that reason there are still available properties waiting to be purchased and developed up to this day. But this is not to say that Hawaii Kai is second rate compared to more develop and well-known areas of Oahu, just quieter and more low-key. This certain characteristic of Hawaii Kai is what appeals most to families and retirees.

Located incredibly close to Haunama Bay, Oahu’s most popular attraction, staying in Hawaii Kai offers you amazing views of this famous marine embayment and unprecedented access to Haunama Bay’s many activities.

Sunbathing, sightseeing and swimming are the obvious attractions that the beaches in and around Hawaii Kai offer. Snorkeling in Haunama is very remarkable because it is a very popular marine sanctuary, one of the best known in the world. The dramatic stretches of coastline and the calm waters of Haunama’s beach are a nice respite from the more extroverted beaches of the northern areas of Oahu. Here you can enjoy skim boarding and kayaking all year-round thanks to the calm waters.

If you want to experience Haunama Bay from a different point of view, you can challenge yourself and hike up Koko Head Crater Trail. One of Hawaii Kai’s most prominent land structures (Koko crater being the other one), Koko Head is located in Maunalua, which literally means “two mountains”. From the top of Koko Head Crater Trail you will also see Diamond Head or Leahi (meaning brow of the Tuna, as it looks like a Tuna’s dorsal fin) a tuff cone or a flat floor crater on the eastern most of Oahu. You can also choose to hike up Diamond Head State Monument to for panoramic views overlooking Honolulu and the famous Waikiki beaches.

In the winter, which is around October to February, one can visit Halona Blowhole, which is just off of Haunama Bay, for some humpback whale watching. Halona Bay in itself is a must see attraction for those visiting or living in Hawaii Kai. During high tide, you can see seawater spray shoot into the air like geysers. If you want a sneak peak at how Halona Blowhole looks, simply watch the classic film From Here to Eternity and keep your eyes peeled for Burt Lancaster’s and Deborah Kerr’s love scene which was shot in the very place.

For some laidback sightseeing, drink in the sights of Hawaii as you walk along Ma kapu’u Beach. During a clear day, locals and tourists will swear that you will be able to see up to Molokai. Body boarding is very popular on this beach too. A few miles past Makapu’u is Waimanalo Beach, which is a great place for picnics, barbecue parties and learning how to body board and bodysurf as this beach has some of the calmest waters in the island.

For those looking for advanced waves, they need not go far as Sandy beach, which lies just at the foot of KoKo Crater and east of Halona Blowhole. Sandy beach being at the base of Koko Crater has a foreshore that is not only steep but drops so dramatically into a shore break that creates hard breaking waves unequalled anywhere else. It is of the utmost importance that all signs and safety precautions followed. Waves over four feet are to be engaged in only by the highly experienced.

Hawaii Kai is a golfer’s paradise too; Hawaii Kai Golf Course poses a challenge even to really advanced golfers.

Of course when you are in Hawaii Kai, you shouldn’t miss famous Waikiki and other Honolulu attractions like Sea Life and the Waikiki Aquarium as they are so near.

Though not as much of a “complete town” as Kailua, it has a fresher feel with newer houses, more high-rise condominiums and townhouses. Mawaena Kai is a condominium complex at the waterfront which offers great views for its residents, many high rise buildings such as Naniwa Gardens and Mt. terrace offer panoramic views of the ocean. For those who have pets, Lalea complex, which is close to the Hawaii Kai Boulevard, is a pet friendly complex, so are condos and townhomes like Plaza Hawaii Kai and Kalama Ku’u. Recently, the luxury condominium and pet-friendly project Hale Ka Lae opened its doors to buyers. Hawaii Kai is more of an upscale suburb than anything else.

Don’t worry about the travel time as it takes more or less only 30 minutes to get to key places like downtown Honolulu. There are shopping centers within Hawaii Kai, such as Hawaii Kai Town Center and Koko Marina Center so you need not go far. If you have a boat or living a financially unencumbered life, you might want to consider Marina 5 as it is merely 5 minutes from the best dining, movies and from propping your feet on deck and relaxing in the middle of the Pacific ocean. Some of the local favorites in Hawaii Kai are Le Bistro, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream, Ba-Le Sandwich shop, Tokyo Noodle House and Harbor Village Seafood.

If you plan to raise your kids in there you can count on the public and private schools in and around Hawaii Kai, three of which are Kaiser High School, Koko Head Elementary and Niu Valley Middle School.

Like in most of Oahu, living in Hawaii Kai can be expensive, with real estate prices ranging from $90,000 to even beyond $23,000,000. Real estate prices have nowhere to go but up and as it continues to rise it is best to start investing early. Those who want to enjoy living in Hawaii Kai are encouraged to invest now and watch as there property steadily appreciates. Of course you can always jus enjoy a vacation there what with numerous condos available for vacation rentals. Or, you could do what many does and invest in a property so you have a permanent holiday home and have it rented out when you are away.

The helicopter tour allows you to observe the scenery of the 5 main islands as well as other small islands in the Pacific Ocean. You will be impressed with the view of the islands when watching down from the helicopter. You will be able to see details of the Hawaiian scenery such as valley, waterfall, rainforest, and volcano crater.

When boarding the helicopter, be sure to sit in front instead of behind. There are two types of helicopters used for tour. The first type of helicopter has 4 passenger seats. The second type of helicopter is larger and can accommodate 6 passengers. If you are taking the larger helicopter, you should avoid sitting in the middle or the back seat. The people who sit in the middle or back seats will not be able to watch the scenery properly. Normally, the person in charge will take into account the weight of the passengers when arranging where they should sit. The majority of the helicopter tour companies will fly around the island clockwise.

The best time to take the helicopter tour is in the afternoon. During the afternoon, there is very few shadow. Besides, there is a lot of sunshine in the afternoon. The sun will light up the coast so that it is easier to view the scenery.

Before exploring Hawaii with a vehicle, you should take a helicopter trip. The helicopter trip allows you to determine the locations of the places where you want to go. By taking the helicopter trip early, it will prevent you from getting lost on the island.

It is important that you make reservation for the helicopter. The seats will quickly become booked because many tourists like to take the helicopter trip. The helicopter tour should last for at least 1 hour. You should find out from the helicopter company about the trip information such as island, date, time and etc. Doing so enables you to make enough preparation for the Helicopter tour. The average cost of the helicopter tour is about $100. You should bring camera or camcorder along so that you can take picture of the beautiful aerial view of the Hawaiian towns. If you already sign up for the helicopter trip, you should contact the representative of the helicopter tour company when you are about to arrive in Hawaii.

The helicopter tour usually includes a fly by an active volcano that is erupting lava. The helicopter tour will only take you to the places, which are included in the schedule.

The best real estate agent is not the one with the most experience on the job, or the one with the most successful sales under their name. No, the ideal real estate agent is the one who will be ready to listen to you, the one who you can get along with easily, and more importantly the one who has the skills and knowledge and expertise to address your specific situation. The same way home buyers are different, so are real estate agents with their different specialties and skills.

There are home buyers who have to deal with credit problems, there are those who want to sell their current one while at the same time buy a new home, there are those who want to buy out of the state among many others. So, how do you find that perfect real estate agent to meet your specific needs?

Give the vibe factor serious consideration – while professional expertise is a very critical component to look at in a realtor, great interpersonal skills are equally as important. If not for anything else because you will be working with this individual anywhere from 2-12 months, hence it really helps to find someone you can easily get along with. While we all have our distinctive personalities, while interacting with someone at a professional level, it really helps if your personalities can ‘mesh’ with each others.

Dig a little into their hunting skills – when talking to a real estate agent, you need to dig deeper on how they conduct their home searching. The bottom line is that you would want what is best for you as an individual and not what works for the agent. You will find that some agents prefer to use some favorite listings that they love but ensure the agent is ready to search both on high and low ends of the market to find exactly what you want… you are paying them now aren’t you? This could mean using the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) plus their personal network.

Talk to several real estate agents – this should not be construed to mean that you should exhaust yourself talking and interviewing one agent after another. No, it means you talk to at least 3 or four so you can see who is most suitable for your specific needs and who you are most comfortable with.

Get referrals – inquire from your close friends and relatives since nobody knows you better than them. They are always in a better position to recommend a real estate agent who they know you can work with comfortably and who they know is well suited for your specific needs. Of course they know your character and personality and will always recommend someone you will get along with easily.

When all is said and done, you need to find the perfect Hawaii real estate agent for your work and once you land on that special one, ensure you read the paperwork carefully. This is very important and it is for a very valid reason. Ensure you go through all documents including the agreement between you and the agent because the last thing you would want is to end up with some hidden clauses that would cost you a lot in the end.

When a person decides that they want to go to Hawaii the place for fun in the Sun, they may decide that they want to visit Waikiki. This is a very popular area simply because it is Hawaii at its best, with traditions that are deeply rooted into everything that takes place in the area. For those that think that this sounds heavenly, there are many that would agree with you. When making travel arrangements for when you want to get to the area as well as when you actually get there, the person should realize that there are a few different methods available to them.

For those that are wanting to get to Waikiki that live in the United States or other countries, then the easiest and fastest way to get to Waikiki is by flying. There are major airlines that have flights landing each and every day, sometimes multiple times throughout the day. There are those that would prefer to take a ship in order to get to Hawaii, which is a bit slower, however, many people enjoy the trip to get there just as much as they like going to the area that they have wanted to visit.

Once you land in Hawaii, you are going to have to rent a car or take a cab to get to Waikiki, which you choose is really up to you, however, most people prefer to take a cab since they will not have to worry about dropping of the car later. Those that stay in Waikiki are going to find that they are not going to need a rental car that much if they are going to stay in the area. Those that are wanting to explore, may find that renting a four wheel drive will be more beneficial to them as they can go on the trails that are around the area.

There are also those that find having a bicycle is an excellent way to get around from one area to another since it allows for people to get there faster than walking, without having to worry about traffic, which can be heavy at some times all over the island. And of course, if you are wanting to go from island to island, then you are going to have to look into traveling by boat, however, there are many companies that are there to arrange a boat for your personal use, or you can simply take the next scheduled ferry to the island that you want.

Hawaii vacations are often about sun, surf and soaking up the warmth of one of the world’s truly unique cultures. Much of the recreation we seek when we go there is based on and around the beach. After all, when you travel to a jewel like this that boasts endless oceanfront real estate, it’s hard to resist the allure of the sea.

It wasn’t long ago that the most people could hope for in a Hawaii visit was a look at some tropical fish and a chance to rubberneck all those world-class surfers. Today, Hawaiian water recreation is all grown up, and that includes countless opportunities to see, hear and touch things you might never experience back on the mainland. These days the biggest craze may be swimming with dolphins.

The problem is that with so many choices, many visitors find themselves struggling to make an informed decision. Does a lower price connote less fun, or is it simply the byproduct of a better-run business? Are all dolphins the same, or can training and superior breeding create an experience that is more fulfilling than one you might find elsewhere? At The Hawaii Visitor Center, we have the inside scoop on each one of these vendors and take pride in crafting an itinerary that leaves nothing to chance.

“Vacation By Humans” means we aren’t just another anonymous travel engine. Our agents are experts on Hawaii who spend time throughout these dazzling islands each year. That includes everything from sampling hotels to–yes–swimming with the dolphins. If you want a local perspective and superior customer service, we invite you to apply today for a free quote online.

Deep sea fishing off the Hawaiian Islands is unlike anything you have ever experienced off the mainland’s coast. One look at those famous surfing competitions should reveal why: these are wild seas, given to majestic swells and some of the most spectacular sea creatures known to man. No wonder people tend to pack an extra meal or two when they embark.

People come to Hawaii from the world over to take part in this singular exercise, an exploration of some of the best sport fishing anywhere in the Pacific. It’s not unusual to catch tuna, marlin and mahi mahi all in a single day! The take can be impressive, but the finest touch is yet to come–kicking back and eating that catch at the end of the day, thanks to the loving preparation from a seafood master.

Half the battle for such trips is knowing when to go and where to stay. That’s where we come in. The Hawaii Visitor Center has spent years honing itineraries such as these to serve the needs of fishing enthusiasts who love to get there early and nail the best catch. We can help you book better flights and smarter accommodations, all with an eye toward fishing in style throughout your stay.

Don’t try to plan this kind of trip alone using a faceless travel engine. We can set you up with everything you need, including logistical support and countless resourceful professionals standing by in case you need us throughout your stay. It is a better way to travel and one that continues to bring back avid sport fishermen season after season.

True travel deals to the Big Island of Hawaii are somewhat rarer than many people imagine. This is a special place, shot through with light and boasting some of the most beautiful natural resources anywhere in Polynesia. It may surprise you to learn that the people who administer and run the amenities here don’t relish the thought of surrendering their high profits too many times a year.

Of course that doesn’t keep the major travel search engines from trumpeting Big Island deals several times a month. Often these turn out to be little more than dressed-up conventional pricing systems that have been cobbled together into a “package.” Needless to say, if you’re in the market for real price cuts on some of the most stunning destinations in Hawaii, you may need to get help from an actual human being.

“Vacations By Humans” is a motto we take very seriously around here. The Hawaii Visitor Center is a place where experts with years of experience come to share that knowledge with clients who are looking for a different kind of travel. An integral part of that expertise involves cultivating relationships with the decision-makers who set the prices–and helping our clients get in early on true opportunities.

We can find you better airfare and lower prices on some of the Big Island’s most popular resorts, from the reasonable Royal Kona Resort to the dazzling Hilton Waikoloa Village, home to canal boats and its own private lagoon where you can swim with the dolphins. Whatever your dreams of Big Island splendor may look like, our talented agents are always happy to listen and comprehend before they ever begin assembling an itinerary.

This is travel done with a personal touch–the kind many people don’t do anymore. If you want to experience the Big Island with all the benefits and good advice that comes with knowing a real insider, we urge you to try our online quote form today. We know your planning process will be as seamless and pleasurable as the trip itself!

Why do so many people spend their honeymoons on Maui? The truth is that Maui has long been seen as a romantic enclave, one of the true hidden jewels of the Pacific and always ready to launch another love affair. What many people don’t realize is that it also offers a staggering diversity of activities to make any stay memorable.

Here at The Hawaii Visitor Center, we can tell you all about it. This is a company founded on the principles of passion and experience, and that means we all spend time on Maui each year. The knowledge we come back with is funneled directly into our trip planning–widely regarded as the most detail-oriented and headache-free anywhere on the Web. Clients come to us when they want a full experience, devoid of hassles and infused with all the personal care they expect from agents who know their names.

Maui sometimes seems custom-made for love. Activities as diverse as horseback riding, glass-bottom boat rides and sunset cruises are available throughout the year. And the accommodations tend to drop jaws across the board–lush plantations, decadent modern resorts and rustic historical venues that call to mind the charms of a bygone era. Whatever your taste, it’s easy to find something that exceeds your most indulgent dreams.

We can help. Nobody knows more about the airfares, lodging and activities on Maui than we do, and we take care to ensure nothing about your honeymoon falls outside of your vision for that trip. If you want to create memories to last as long as your marriage, we urge you to contact us today for a free quote. There is nothing like working with an actual human being to create a perfect Maui honeymoon.
