Big Island
The Big Island of Hawaii never disappoints. With diverse geologic features and some of the most important historic sites anywhere in the state, this is an island countless people consider to be one of the Pacific’s true jewels. Spend time there with the guidance of an experienced regular, however, and you may soon come to understand the difference between an ordinary vacation and something truly exceptional.
The Big Island is home to countless attractions for tourists, including the fabled Onizuda Space Center and the Kona Historical Society Museum, home to some of the oldest artifacts from Hawaii’s indigenous culture. When it’s over, you can head to the Puna region and see lava flow into the sea from Kilauea Volcano, one of the Pacific’s most exhilarating natural wellsprings of tephra jets and littoral lava fountains.
